KINGS QUEENS & CLOWNS @BREWHOUSE

This event was meant to  act as a celebration for the end of the strike at the University of Lethbridge. With all the uncertainty, that lasted for so long, around when students education resume we wanted to partner with Green n Yellow Group, The Canadian Brewhouse, and artists Couch Boy DJ's KTNY and MIDNIGHT SUNSET to throw a party to celebrate the resilient spirit of the community of Lethbridge Alberta.

Although we encountered technical difficulties with the sound system which prevented Couch Boy from being able to put on a show and the DJ's to properly portray their music, the event was a success in that we had a celebration to commemorate the end of the strike and were able to put out Green n Yellow Group's name to

Who is KTNY?

Buying his first DJ controller at 13, Derek Pettigrew has poured his life into his music. The self-taught Kootenay DJ and music producer known as KTNY has roots in Creston and lives in Fernie. He grinds hard for the bass and is influenced by local DJ friends who are as deep in their artistry as he is.

Bouncing with high energy KTNY’s tracks are fragrant with an assortment of house, halftime, and DnB while maintaining an aura of cheekiness, topping off his sets with dropping, dirty tunes. He can read the room with his eyes closed, and seems to have a finger on the pulse of each beat, attracting bodies to the dance floor at any hour.

KTNY’s core competency is to get the crowd going. His ever increasing hunger for the stoke drives him, and his creative expression craves the atmosphere of electronic music.

“Music is one of the only things on this planet that can switch my mood on a dime,” he says. “A song can remind me of memories, and it brings me back. It’s my safe zone. It’s my happy place… House is where my heart lies for sure.”

Having played Quite Hours Silent Disco at Fernie’s The Royal in 2020, KTNY went on to play multiple small outdoor festivals the following year. Mid-2021 saw him sign on with Deep Bear Records, and early in 2022 he snagged a peak hour set on Edmonton’s True North Radio Station.

KTNY is supported by LNDN, Proper Vibe, First Tracks Promotions, and Raine. Find his House Salad Mixes on Soundcloud and Spotify.
